Jesus took up his own cross. They took Jesus, therefore, and He went out, carrying His own cross, to the place called the Place of a Skull, which in Hebrew is called, Golgotha.
Jesus abandoned it all to follow his father in heaven. Jesus was born of a virgin to be the savior of the world, but did he have choice? In my opinion he did have a choice and chose to abandon it all for His father in heaven. This was the ultimate example of someone picking up there cross and following God. knowing what was to happen once he picked up the cross, I'm not sure I could go through with it and pick up the cross.
Instead of seeking things of this world, Jesus sought things of the kingdom and that is why he picked up his cross. Mattew 6:33 says, But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided to you. We are to seek the kingdom first not anything else. We are do the will of God for his kingdom to advance. we are to pick up our cross and Jesus did and follow him and in doing so you will seek the things of the kingdom.
Luke 14:27 says, Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple. you must pick up your own cross and carry it daily for you to be his disciple. Jesus is the ultimate example of that and we are to follow what he did.
To close out this series I'll leave you with this and a link to a song I shared yesterday, because Jesus took up his own cross, He paid the ultimate price for our sins.
