Today is Sunday and a day to go to church but let's reflect on the past week and what we have learned about Picking up our cross and follow Him. Luke 9:23 says, And He was saying to them all, “If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow Me.
This week looked at what it means to pick up the cross and follow Him. we them look at the cost of picking up you cross and following Him. Then we looked at benefits of picking up your cross and follow Him. we revisited some of these things during the week when things need to be said and expanded on.
But with all this talk about picking up your cross and following Him, what does it all culminate to? It all culminates to this one thing to pick up your cross and become a follower of Jesus Christ and to proclaim his name to all the nations. We are to be disciples and do his will. we are to glorify the name of Jesus Christ.
The Lyrics to the song By Steven Curtis Chapman say it best. (Not whole song)
We will abandon it all for the sake of the call
No other reason at all but the sake of the call
Wholly devoted to live and to die for the sake of the callNot for a dream or a promise
Simply because it is Jesus who called
And if we believe we'll obey
No other reason at all but the sake of the call
We will abandon it all for the sake of the call
No other reason at all but the sake of the call
Wholly devoted to live and to die for the sake of the call
For the sake of the call
We will abandon it all for the sake of the call
No other reason at all
We will abandon it all
No other reason at all
We will abandon it all
And the one who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. Matthew 10:38
Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow Me. Matthew 16:24
And He was saying to them all, “If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow Me. Luke 9: 23
Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple. Luke 14:27
But far be it from me
to boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which
the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. Galatians 6:14
