But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. 2 For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, slanderers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, 4 treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 holding to a form of godliness although they have denied its power; avoid such people as these. 2 Timothy 3:1-5. And He was saying, “That which comes out of the person, that is what defiles the person. 21 For from within, out of the hearts of people, come the evil thoughts, acts of sexual immorality, thefts, murders, acts of adultery, 22 deeds of greed, wickedness, deceit, indecent behavior, envy, slander, pride, and foolishness. 23 All these evil things come from within and defile the person.” Mark 7:20-23. These verses describe the things which God despises.
There are many verses saying He opposes the proud. But He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says, “God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” James 4:6. That is just one example of the things God opposes/despises. Another example is gossip. One who goes about as a slanderer reveals secrets; Therefore do not associate with a gossip. Proverbs 20:19. yet another example is boastfulness. 16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. 1 John 2:16. If it is not from the Father, Jesus despises it.
The verse before it talks about this and it says, 5 Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 1 John 2:15. we are not to love the things of the world or love the world because in it is the thing that God, the lord, Jesus which is all one despises. We are to look to the things of His kingdom and His righteousness. 33 But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided to you. Matthew 6:33. So we are to despise the thing that God despises and look to the things God loves and uplifts Him. 2 Set your minds on the things that are above, not on the things that are on earth. Colossians 3:2. We are to seek heaven and all God's goodness not what he despises.
So, seek the things of Heaven and not what God Despises today but what are to do with things that God despises I will talk about that tomorrow.
