For the word of God is living, and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and quick to discern the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrew 4:12.
Today in seeking God first I have been getting this in my spirit to talk about and that is the Good Book verse many books. Lately, all I want to do is read the Good Book the Bible. I have gotten this idea of why do I want to read many books about Jesus when I can read the only book that actually matters, and that book is the Bible. Just like the verse says above the Bible is living and active. so just because it was not written this year or this century it is still as relevant as it was when it was written and put together as a book. The first Bible was created as we know it today was in A.D. 400 and was constructed by St. Jerome. This book can do what no other book can do and that is to do as 2 Timothy 3:16 says, Every scripture inspired of God is also profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for instruction which is in righteousness. the Bible is all we need to learn, for the Bible is ready to reproof, correct us, or instruct us in our faith.
There is a book I have been looking at buying but it is about the bible not a book about the bible. That makes no sense right, but I will put it a different way and say, the book I want to buy is about the bible and its history not about the Good Book told by someone else, or about what the Bible says or a concept of the Bible, or a way to live according to that person using the Bible. My whole thing is centered around wanting only to read the Good Book and that Book alone. i have a stack of the other book I was talking about and have not read them but kind of don't want to and stick only to the Good Book. I tell you all this because I can get caught up in reading other books about the bible and when I can I love to read and not even read the Bible, the book that really matters.
17 that the man of God may be complete, furnished completely unto every good work. 2 Timothy 3:17. If we read and hold to verse 16 which says, 16 Every scripture inspired of God is also profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for instruction which is in righteousness. We will be complete because we are men of God, complete for every good work.
So just as I am doing, I challenge you to only read the Good Book the Bible. As to the book I want to buy I will probably buy it to go deeper in the Bible and use it as a tool to read the Bible. Many books can help you in your walk and with your faith but are they the only book that actually matters because to me and in what I have learned so far from God those books are great but can replace the Bible instead you go to those books like that and not the Bible.
So read the Bible today and do not replace it with another book or books. The Bible alone is enough for me, how about you?
Have a blessed day!!!
