Worn Out Wisdom...

My wife wanted to get a new Bible because my Bible looked worn. I do not remember what I said to her about it. But this got me to think about the worn Bible and sound wisdom. If you were to meet two people and one had a worn Bible and one had a Bible that looked brand new which one, would you seek for wisdom or counsel? The answer is easy the one with the worn Bible because you know that he has used that Bible in battle, in ministry, and actually read it (hopefully).  16 Every scripture inspired of God is also profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for instruction which is in righteousness: 2 Timothy 3:16 ASV. But if you don't read your Bible the word of God cannot do as this verse says. This means that the wisdom of the Bible, you do not know because you have not read it.

You can only gain wisdom from the Bible if you read It. Staring at your Bible, will not give you wisdom. Wanting to keep your Bible new looking will not give you wisdom. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Ephesians 6:17 ASV. We all have the things God gives as our amor Of God and the Bible is our sword. this is where we are to use to battle and for our wisdom to flow from.

So I would rather have a Bible that is ready to fall apart than one that is brand new. Why because I want to read my Bible. I don't want it to sit on a shelf and look new and beautiful. I want the wisdom that can only come from this book. This book is not some book that was written long ago and is not good for today. For the word of God is living, and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and quick to discern the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4:12 ASV. The word of God is living and active just as much as it was back then as it is today.

So you can seek wisdom in the government, our president, the news, the internet, porn, the guy with the new Bible he has had for years and has not opened it, or whatever you think has wisdom but for me, I will always look to the Bible for wisdom. and leads me to my final point I will always seek out people with worn Bibles to get help with my wisdom which we will talk about tomorrow in this 2-part series.
