Abraham

Today we will be the biblical hero Abraham. Abraham which means father of multitudes was not called that until God has come and made a covenant with Him. His first name was Abram which means, the father is exalted. God talking: I will make My covenant between Me and you, And I will multiply you exceedingly.” Genesis 17:2 NASB. Abraham talking: “As for Me, behold, My covenant is with you, And you will be the father of a multitude of nations. Genesis 17:4 NASB.

Abraham was married to Sarah and her name was changed too. She was not able to have kids because she was past that age to have kids. They could only have kids If they came from God through a miracle. Abraham stayed faithful for that to happen. Abraham waited for God to have kids, but it took too long for Him to have kids. So, he laid down with her handmaid and to that union was born Ishmael. 2 So Sarai said to Abram, “See now, the Lord has prevented me from bearing children. Please have relations with my slave woman; perhaps I will [a]obtain children through her.” And Abram listened to the voice of Sarai. 3 And so after Abram had lived ten years in the land of Canaan, Abram’s wife Sarai took Hagar the Egyptian, her slave woman, and gave her to her husband Abram as his wife. Genesis 16 2-3 NASB. 

God had promised Abraham a kid through Sarah and his union. 13 But the Lord said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh, saying, ‘Shall I actually give birth to a child, when I am so old?’ 14 Is anything too difficult for the Lord? At the appointed time I will return to you, at this time next year, and Sarah will have a son.” 15 Sarah denied it, however, saying, “I did not laugh”; for she was afraid. And He said, “No, but you did laugh.” Genesis 18-:13-15 NASB. They were not believing it could happen through God. But God's promise was fulfilled through the birth of Isaac.

God told Abraham to go to the mountain I tell you and burnt offer your son to me and Abraham did as he was commanded and at the point, the offering was to happen, God stopped Him was to sacrifice a ram nearby instead. His faith proved to be the faith God wanted. God tested Abraham and He passed.

This man of God is a biblical hero for being ready and willing to offer up His son to God And all that He did.

Have a day meditating on Abraham and his life and that He was going to sacrifice His son!!!
