Today's biblical hero we will be taking is Rahab. Rahab was a Canaanite who was an enemy of Israel. Her greatest deed and thing that She did was to tell a lie, to protect spies that had come to the land to spy for the king of Israel.
9 and said to the men, “I know that the Lord has given you the land, and that the terror of you has fallen on us, and that all the inhabitants of the land have despaired because of you. 10 For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea before you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan, to Sihon and Og, whom you utterly destroyed. 11 When we heard these reports, our hearts melted and no courage remained in anyone any longer because of you; for the Lord your God, He is God in heaven above and on earth below. 12 Now then, please swear to me by the Lord, since I have dealt kindly with you, that you also will deal kindly with my father’s household, and give me a pledge of truth, 13 and spare my father and my mother, and my brothers and my sisters, and all who belong to them, and save our lives from death.” Joshua 2: 9-13 NASB
She is mostly known to be a harlot, a loose woman, and in today's language a prostitute. But her family was spared by the spies and her family heritage shows up in the geology of Jesus. so Rahab was a descendant of Jesus. When I read that I was shocked a little, and it is not something some posted, or I researched, it is in the Bible. 5 Salmon fathered Boaz by Rahab, Boaz fathered Obed by Ruth, and Obed fathered Jesse.Matthew 1:5 NASB.
This is another great example of God using far-from-perfect people to accomplish His will. We can learn a lot from her story. This leads to us knowing that God came to save the lost, not the healthy (the godly) and we can know that by the Her.
So, read and be encouraged by Rahab's story!!!!
Look for the not-so-perfect people of God today and seek them out and lead them to faith!!!
