Today's biblical hero is Ruth a Moabite, who married an Israelite. 4 And they took for themselves Moabite women as wives; the name of the one was Orpah, and the name of the other, Ruth. And they lived there about ten years. Ruth 1:4 NASB. In the book of Ruth the story starts with a famine in the land and that is why these Israelites can to the land and stayed. 1 Now it came about in the days when the judges governed, that there was a famine in the land. And a man of Bethlehem in Judah went to reside in the land of Moab with his wife and his two sons. Ruth 1:1 NASB. Through the process of living there, the father dies and then the sons die. This leaves only the mother and the two Moabite daughters-in-law living. 3 Then Elimelech, Naomi’s husband, died; and she was left with her two sons. Ruth 1:3 NASB. 5 Then both Mahlon and Chilion also died, and the woman was left without her two sons and her husband. Ruth 1:5 NASB.
Both the mother and daughters-in-law were without husbands and there was food because of the Lord in their place where there were before. 6 Then she arose with her daughters-in-law to return from the land of Moab, because she had heard in the land of Moab that the Lord had visited His people by giving them food. Ruth 1:6 NASB. Naomi the mother of the Israelites told her daughters-in-law to leave and go back to where they had come from. 8 But Naomi said to her two daughters-in-law, “Go, return each of you to your mother’s house. May the Lord deal kindly with you as you have dealt with the dead and with me. 9 May the Lord grant that you may find a place of rest, each one in the house of her husband.” Then she kissed them, and they raised their voices and wept. Ruth 1:8-9. Ruth decided to stay and go with Naomi.
19 So they both went on until they came to Bethlehem. And when they had come to Bethlehem, all the city was stirred because of them, and the women said, “Is this Naomi?” Ruth 1:19 NASB. They both went back and lived in the city where Naomi had lived. Through the process, Ruth was courageous for going with Naomi to a different land and helping all the way and for gleaning in the Feild of Boaz to come to Him to keep the family line going. She came to Boaz to lie with Him so she could marry Him.
So, she is a Biblical hero for doing all that she did even though she was released from doing it. she went to a foreign land and went and she laid down with a foreign man to marry for the family bloodline to keep going.
