For the study today I looked up in the Bible of the ASV (American Standard Bible) to see if seek first comes up in any other verses as it says in Matthew and there are no other verses. Hosea 2:7 says, And she shall follow after her lovers, but she shall not overtake them; and she shall seek them, but shall not find them: then shall she say, I will go and return to my first husband; for then was it better with me than now. and Genesis 43:18 says, And the men were afraid because they were brought to Joseph’s house; and they said, Because of the money that was returned in our sacks at the first time are we brought in; that he may seek occasion against us, and fall upon us, and take us for bondmen, and our asses. Most of the versions I looked at have the same verse with seek and first in it. There are a few versions with more, but for this study, we will stick with what most Bibles have.
If something like this is so important, why is it not said more times in the Bible? This I do not know. Is This a way of life? Yes, this is a way of life. This is the foundation of our Christian walk, and it is not by my own thought or opinion, but the verse alone says it that we are to first seek the kingdom and it will be added.
We are not to first seek religion or a message or praise or grace, but we are to first seek His kingdom. We are to seek Jesus with all our hearts and mind. This is said in Mark 12:30, and thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength. But to do this we need to first seek his kingdom.
What are you seeking? I may have you do this already and if I have, do it again, and if not do it.
See what you are seeking then move on to see what you are seeking first? If it is not Jesus and His Kingdom, then make adjustments so it is.
Take time today to meditate on these questions and answer them.
This is so important, that we need to do this every day ask ourselves and seek Jesus' Kingdom first. Even though it is said only twice in the bible, one with first and the other not, we need to practice this as if it were our last breath. Let that sink in and have a blessed day!!!
For Tomorrow we dig deeper into these verses and be led where the spirit leads for more understanding of what this look like and then how to live it out.
