Seek Ye First: Verses Line Up...

So, today we will look at how both verses line up with each other from what is just in the Bible. As I said I am only using the bible to examine these verses. So, let's get started.

The verse in Matthew is said by Jesus during the Sermon on the Mount, The Beatitudes. Now when Jesus saw the crowds, He went up on the mountain; and after He sat down, His disciples came to Him. Matthew 5:1 We know it is during this sermon that He said it because it does not talk about Him leaving that spot before it is said. How do I know that it is because in my Bible I have the red lettering and between the sermon and the verse we are talking about it does not change from red to black at all. (Red lettering means the words are from Jesus-what Jesus said). The verse we are talking about is Matthew 6 33 which is found in the 6th chapter of the book and looks like it is part of the sermon he was doing on that mountain. the whole sermon ends in Matthew 7 at verse 28. When Jesus had finished these words, the crowds were amazed at His teaching; Matthew 7:28. Then He leaves in Matthew 8:1, When Jesus came down from the mountain, large crowds followed Him. So, by both verses, we know that He is done with the sermon on that mountain.

The verse in Luke is said after he has lunch with pharisees. Now when He had spoken, a Pharisee asked Him to have lunch with him; and He went in and reclined at the table. Luke 11:37. In Luke, The Sermon on the Mount, The Beatitudes have already taken place in chapter 6, and after that Jesus moved on from that mountain. We know this by verse 7:1, When He had completed all His teaching in the hearing of the people, He went to Capernaum. So just like the verse in Matthew, we can safely say that Jesus during The Sermon on the Mount was in Galilee because before the verses talked about in that sermon both, it does not mention them leaving that area until chapter 7 verse 1. The verse we are talking about isn't said until chapter 12 of the book of Luke. so we know that it is not said at the time of that sermon on that mountain.

So, it is safe to say that Jesus probably said it twice in two different places. All that we looked at today, can tell us this. The sermon on the Mount was in galilee and before it was said in Luke He has moved on From Galilee.

Tomorrow we will go deeper with both verses and look at the similarities of each of these verses.
