Think of something ancient? What do you recall about hymns? Do you think of a Catholic service? Do you think hymns are ancient and are boring or like a Catholic service? As I said yesterday, I believe the most important book for a believer is the Bible and with all my soul I believe the second is a hymnal. I believe these songs that have stood the test of time deserve more than the garbage bin or to be shelved. We need to make hymns new. And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” Revelation 21:5. Jesus made all things new and that includes hymns. we often think that they were sung in old times but do not matter now. Was it not My hand that made all these things? acts 7:50. If God made all things, doesn't everything He has made deserves our respect and our worship?
When you think of a hymn you probably think of a choir or an organ or something of that nature. We need to change that way of thinking. Hymns don't need to be sung like that or be boring, they can be more than that. They can be updated with new, fresh life breathed into them. An example of this is a song sung by tree 63 and the song is called Amazing Grace. It is not sung like it was back in the day, it is updated and made modern but kept the original theme and Lyrics. As long as we do not lose the meaning and the original theme and lyrics, we can make these hymns new, so that we can receive the wisdom and the richness of these amazing songs.
Just like the verse says, And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:2. Just like the transforming of the renewing of our minds, we need to renew everything in our Christian walk. If we let things become old, they will be old and they will not be something that we will want to do or sing because they became old, and just like old food that is nasty, you throw it out and not use it. We need to make hymns new every day so we can use them to bring down strongholds in Jesus' name, so we can bring people to Christ, and so we can grow deeper in Jesus and His kingdom. That which is old can be made new. When things go out of style they can come back and be made new. Let's make hymns new and bring them back to our alters and our churches.
