Listen...

What type of music do you listen to? After hearing a sermon, I recently looked at what I listened to and made adjustments. Mostly, I listen to Christian music, but I also have other stuff like oldies, country, rock, and Irish on my phone. So, I deleted some songs and artists that did not pass the test. I liked AC/DC, but they had to go. I like some DJ music songs, but they had to go.  Did I go far enough I keep asking myself? I cannot say if I have or haven't. But since I listen to 99 percent Christian music, I think I'm okay. Most of the time when I listen to things non-Christian that is because of my son.

What kind of music is safe other than Christian music? I listen to a lot of oldies because the songs are clean of swearing and such and they don't talk about the stuff (the devil and such) they talk about in songs today. but every era has songs that mean the same thing just put in a different way. an example of this is Wake-up Little Susie which talks about the movie wasn't so hot there wasn't much of a plot, We fell asleep, our goose is cooked Our reputation is shot. and it goes on to say Well, what are we gonna tell your mama? What are we gonna tell your pa'? What are we gonna tell our friends when they say "Ooh, la, la"? This is just a different version of what a song talks about today just in the form of that era.

I have an idea of what is safe and not safe to listen to a degree. But I think even more important than that is we need to have the majority of the music we listen needs to be Christian music or God's word.

What you listen to and what you hear is what you will emanate or start to be and think like. an example is if you listen to a lot of songs with swear words you will start to say them more often. another example is if you listen to songs that talk about ungodly things you will start to think them too.

For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, 2 Timothy 4:3 ESV

And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left. Isaiah 30:21 ESV

The ear that listens to life-giving reproof will dwell among the wise. Proverbs 15:31 ESV

The Bible over and over talks about our ears and what we need to be listening to.
So, do you need to make changes today or do you not know if you need to make changes?
Take time today to find out!!!
