Jesus wept. John 11:35. Today's emotion we will be talking about is sadness. But Mary was standing outside the tomb, weeping; so as she wept, she stooped to look into the tomb; John 20:11. To start with crying out and sadness are two different things. I am going to only talk about sadness. ( I may later write a message about Crying out.) Even Jesus was sad in John 11:35. Mary was sad when Jesus died. There is sadness in the bible and believe it is to show that being a Christian will not be all about Joy.
We will have sadness in our lives, but what does the bible say that we should do with our sadness. For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning. Psalms 30:5 So when we are sad it will not last it will only be a night. God will deliver us out of that sadness, He is with us. Just like the verse says we will have joy in the morning. But that doesn't answer what we are to do with our sadness. I will answer it very clearly and say that we are to turn our sadness into joy. Does that mean if you have tears that they will go away? No, I cannot say that will happen. the tears can become from sadness to tears of joy.
We are will be sad in our life as I have said. It is a fact of life, but what we do with that sadness defines how to move forward from sadness to joy. Yes, we are never to stay in sadness but to have eternal joy. If we were to stay in sadness, ii would not say sadness endures for a night but joy comes in the morning.
What are supposed to do when we are sad, to turn our sadness into joy. Yes as I said we are not to stay sad but that doesn't mean we will never be sad again. we are to seek his joy and abound in it, not in sorrow or sadness.
As I come to a close, I've been talking about sadness and what we do with our sadness but haven't talked about how we glorify God when we have sadness. How do we glorify God when we are sad or have sadness? We are to worship Him and pray to Him, knowing that the sorrow will not last and joy will be coming. God does not like to see us sad but He likes it when we are joyous.
