Which table would you sit the one in the aisle meaning the Christians, the priest, the pharisees, and the scribes, or would you sit at the table Jesus sat at. What table has more value in the kingdom of heaven? Which table would bring glory to God? Which one would receive Jesus more?
It would be easy for us to just sit and be with the Christians, the priest, and such. it would be comfortable to sit at that table and eat. it would be easy to talk to people at that table when eating. 33 These things have I spoken unto you, that in me ye may have peace. In the world ye have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. John 16:33. in this world we will have tribulations and troubles and trials. this walk we walk on called Christianity/Faith will not be an easy road but as the verse says He Jesus has overcome it. So, we are to walk as such that Jesus overcame the world. it may be easy to sit at one table but that is not why Jesus walked across the aisle so it would be easy but to show us how to do it so, we would learn and do it ourselves.
Sitting at the table Jesus sat at would take work and not be easy but these are the people who would receive the word more so than the table with the priest and such. if you put in a day's work, don't you want something to show for it. of course, we do but that is not why Jesus did he did to bring people to Himself and His kingdom not to get glory or to get credit but to bring them to salvation. 14 For narrow is the gate, and straitened the way, that leadeth unto life, and few are they that find it. Matthew 7:14. sitting at this table will take courage and strength and wisdom but if we follow as Jesus did, we will be able to walk across the aisle in confidence and proclaim the gospel.
It is foolish to proclaim the gospel to people who will not get it right? Jesus tried to proclaim the gospel to the priest and such and they did not get it or give to Jesus what was due to Him. they wanted to kill him for what he came to proclaim because they did not understand. So, Jesus walked across the aisle to the table and place of people who would listen and understand what He was proclaiming. 10 And it came to pass, as he sat at meat in the house, behold, many publicans and sinners came and sat down with Jesus and his disciples.
The table that would bring more glory to God and be more valuable is the one and the same answer and that is the table that would hear the word and take it to heart. 20 And those are they that were sown upon the good ground; such as hear the word, and accept it, and bear fruit, thirtyfold, and sixtyfold, and a hundredfold. These are the people that Jesus came to save and proclaim the good news.
Jesus walked across the aisle so, He could proclaim to the people who would understand and take it to heart.
