Acts 8:1 says, Now Saul approved of putting Stephen to death. And on that day a great persecution began against the church in Jerusalem, and they were all scattered throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except for the apostles. Paul at the time called Saul Persecute the church, killed Christians, and put them in prison. But Saul began ravaging the church, entering house after house; and he would drag away men and women and put them in prison. Acts 8:3. Paul did a lot of evil in the name of evil because Saul was not yet converted and did what he thought was right.
3 But Saul began ravaging the church [and assaulting believers]; entering house after house and dragging off men and women, putting them in prison. Acts 8:3 AMP
3 But Saul laid waste the church, entering into every house, and dragging men and women committed them to prison. Acts 8:3 ASV
3 As for Saul, he made havock of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed them to prison. Acts 8:3 KJV
Each of these verses is the same Acts 8:3 in three different translations. they look a little different, but all add to the same thing that Saul was not a good man and did a lot of evil to the Christians at the time. I share all the same verses to drive this point home, so you understand what comes next.
Before we move on to what happened next, I want you to think about Saul and what he did. Then think about grace and what we have talked about. we will stop there today so you have time to think about these things and pick up where I left off tomorrow.
All Bible verses taken from the NASB, AMP, ASV, KJV
