Make Hymns New, Bringing Back what was Lost: A look at Bringing in the Sheaves...

In the 19th century in 1874 Bringing in the Sheaves was written by Knowles Shaw. Bringing in the Sheaves is a popular Christian hymn. The Protestant church is the church that mostly uses this song for Its services. on October 13th, 1834, Knowles Shaw was born in New London, in Morgan Township, Ohio. There was a party that he was playing the violin at and as the party was going on he stopped playing and was converted to the Christian Church. Soon after that he went and entered the ministry. Once in the ministry, he was mostly in the west and the south and with his wonderful voice they gave him the name "singing evangelist." everybody who encountered him said he had a wonderful voice. After preaching he began to write music and compose music. The last song that he wrote was Bringing in the Sheaves.

Bringing in the Sheaves by Knowles Shaw

Sowing in the morning, sowing seeds of kindness,
Sowing in the noontide and the dewy eve;
Waiting for the harvest, and the time of reaping,
We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves.
Refrain:
Bringing in the sheaves, bringing in the sheaves,
We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves,
Bringing in the sheaves, bringing in the sheaves,
We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves.
Sowing in the sunshine, sowing in the shadows,
Fearing neither clouds nor winter's chilling breeze;
By and by the harvest, and the labor ended,
We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves.
Refrain
Going forth with weeping, sowing for the Master,
Though the loss sustained our spirit often grieves;
When our weeping's over, He will bid us welcome,
We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves.
Refrain
