What did you think of for your definition of a saint?
Yesterday I shared the 7 woes with the people who were saints.
1. What they preach they did not practice.
so do and observe whatever they tell you, but not the works they do. For they preach but do not practice. Matthew 23:3
2. They shove the gospel and God in people's faces.
“But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut the kingdom of heaven in people's faces. Matthew 23:13
3. They did not have to tell the truth or live up to the oath they took if by the temple. But by the gold, it means you have to keep your oath.
16 “Woe to you, blind guides, who say, ‘If anyone swears by the temple, it is nothing, but if anyone swears by the gold of the temple, he is bound by his oath Matthew 23:16
4. They did not do all of the things of the law only the minor ones.
23 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint and dill and cumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faithfulness. Matthew 23:23
5. They looked like they were clean but, on the inside, they were dirty with greed and such.
25 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup and the plate, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. Matthew 23:25
6. Their appearance on the outside was beautiful but, on the inside, it was full of dead things and dirty things.
27 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but within are full of dead people's bones and all uncleanness Matthew 23:27
7. They would not have killed Prophets.
30 saying, ‘If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we would not have taken part with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’
There are more that the saints were like as we talked about yesterday, but these are the main 7 Jesus tells us to whoa to. This is a picture of what the saints were like back in the day.
Does this resemble the saints of today?
Tomorrow we will fast forward to today and see what God has for us concerning these saints!!!
