Genesis 1:1 Journey Study...

Today we continue our journey that we start with Genesis 1:1 which led us to Psalms 102:25

Which led us to Deuteronomy 4:29 which led us to Psalm 32:6 which now leads us to Isaiah

26:4 to Psalm 9:9 which lead us to Psalm 59:9.

9 Because of his strength I will watch for You,

For God is my refuge. Psalm 59:9

Many ancient versions use the word my instead of His.

So, His strength refers to the power of His enemies.

But both lead to the power of the enemy.

Refuge refers to a safe place, where God is my defense.

16 But as for me, I will sing of Your strength;

Yes, I will joyfully sing of Your faithfulness in the morning,

For You have been my refuge

And a place of refuge on the day of my distress. Psalm 59:16

We will sing of God's strength.

We will be joyful in that singing of the faithfulness of God.

Refuge refers to the protection and safety of being in God, a safe place.

In times of trouble, he will be our safe place.

My strength, I will sing praises to You;

For God is my refuge, the God who shows me favor. Psalm 59:17

Here we see that we are to sing praises to God.

For God is my refuge refers to being our defense, a safe place to be.

Genesis 1:1 Journey Study...

Today we continue our journey that we start with Genesis 1:1 which led us to Psalms 102:25

Which led us to Deuteronomy 4:29 which led us to Psalm 32:6 which now leads us to Isaiah

26:4 to Psalm 9:9.

So, it seems that our journey has led us to what we are supposed to do after we were created

to what God is to us....

9 The Lord will also be a stronghold for the oppressed,

A stronghold in times of trouble; Psalm 9:9

People who are subject to bad and wrong treatment by authoritarian.

God will be their stronghold in those times for the people who are being oppressed.

When trouble comes God will be their stronghold as well.

The Lord is good, A stronghold in the day of trouble, And He knows those who take refuge in

Him. Nahum 1:7

This verse again says trouble like the first verse.

So, when trouble comes, He will be our stronghold.

He alone is my rock and my salvation, My stronghold; I will not be greatly shaken. Psalm 62:2

God alone is my rock and salvation, My stronghold.

Because of these things, we will not be greatly shaken.

.... but let's see where we go tomorrow to see if keeps going in the direction as it has so far.

Have A Blessed Day!!!

Genesis 1:1 Journey Study...

Today we continue our journey that we start with Genesis 1:1 which led us to Psalms 102:25

Which led us to Deuteronomy 4:29 which led us to Psalm 32:6 which now leads us to Isaiah

26:4.

4 Trust in the Lord forever,

For in God the Lord, we have an everlasting Rock. Isaiah 26:4

So, we are to trust God for good (Forever), for He is the everlasting Rock.

Behold, God is my salvation,

I will trust and not be afraid;

For the Lord God is my strength and song,

And He has become my salvation.” Isaiah 12:2

God is my Salvation.

I will trust Him.

I will not be afraid of what comes my way.

For the Lord is where I get my strength to not be afraid.

Also, I get a song refers to a song that is composed like that of Moses after the Red Sea.

He has become my salvation refers to the fact that God has become the author of salvation.

But I have trusted in Your faithfulness;

My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation. Psalm 13:5

The writer is saying that he has trusted in God's faithfulness.

His heart has rejoiced in the salvation of God.

Genesis 1:1 Journey Study...

 6 Therefore, let everyone who is godly pray to You in a time when You may be found;

Certainly in a flood of great waters, they will not reach him. Psalm 32:6

Let everyone who is Godly pray.

The next part of the verse talks about times when God would be gracious or times of mercy or

give audience to His people.

The Flood refers to what will happen to the ungodly people.

They will not reach Him refers to the Godly will not have the same fate as the ungodly.

13 But as for me, my prayer is to You, Lord, at an acceptable time;

God, in the greatness of Your mercy,

Answer me with our saving truth. Psalm 68:13

This verse instead of revenge feelings he gave himself to prayer. He looked to God in his time

of need.

A time well pleasing to God.

The greatness of mercy which God bestowed on him answered him.

This is according to the y saving truth or faithfulness.

8 This is what the Lord says:

“At a favorable time I answered You,

And on a day of salvation I helped You;

And I will watch over You and make You a covenant of the people,

To restore the land, to give as inheritances the deserted hereditary lands; Isaiah 49:8

This is from the Lord.

At a favorable time, I answered the prayer that you prayed to Me.

In the Day of Salvation refers to the time of grace and of the gospel for the working of my

Salvation.

There is more to this verse, but the main point is it talks about prayer, not that they prayed

but it was answered.

So, God created all things, then we are to worship Him with all we have, and then we are to

seek Him and find Him if it is with our all hearts then we are to pray to God and He will answer

Tomorrow we will continue this journey to see where it takes us!!!

Genesis 1:1 Journey Study...

Today we continue our journey that we start with Genesis 1:1 which led us to Psalms 102:25 which now leads us to Deuteronomy 4:29

29 But from there you will seek the Lord your God, and you will find Him if you search for Him with all your heart and all your soul. Deuteronomy 4:29

We are to seek the Lord God.

If we seek Him with all heart and all our soul, it says in the verse we will find Him.

4 But in their distress they turned to the Lord God of Israel, and they sought Him, and He let them find Him. 2 Chronicles 15:4

So, this verse also talks about Seeking God, and they would find Him.

Even though the verse talks about distress, it still refers to seeking God and finding Him.

But we do know that Israel was in trouble by the word distress.

13 And you will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13

This verse also says that if we seek God and search for Him, we will find Him if we do it with all our heart.

All these verses led to us to seek God and we will find Him if it is with all our heart.

So, God created all things, then we are to worship Him with all we have, and then we are to seek Him and find Him if it is with our all hearts.

Tomorrow we will continue this journey to see where it takes us!!!

Genesis 1:1 Journey Study...

Today we continue our journey that we start with Genesis 1:1 which led us to Psalms 102:25

which led us to Nehemiah 9:6. Now let's keep going on our journey today.

4 “Hear, Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord is one! Deuteronomy 6:4

So, this verse turns from saying that the earth and the heavens were created by God to saying

that God is one!

Essentiality one and the only one that we should worship as the object of our faith.

37 And He said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your

soul, and with all your mind.’ Matthew 22:37

This verse then backs up that we should only worship God as the object of our faith.

It goes on in Mark and Luke to say with all your strength.

This means we are to worship Him with everything we have.

5 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your

strength. Deuteronomy 6:5

This verse reiterates the same things Matthew said in Chapter 22 verse 37.

Again, it's a call to worship Him with all we have.

So, God created all things, then we are to worship Him with all we have.

tomorrow we will continue this journey to see where it takes us!!!

Genesis 1:1 Journey Study...

So today we start a study that begins in Genesis 1:1 and see where it leads us. Can't wait to

see what God has for us!!!! So, let's dive in...

1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1

So in the NASB, they have headings and the heading for this is The Creation.

Rightly so.

Because this first verse in the Bible refers to the creation of heaven then the earth and all its

splendor.

So, we know by this there was no earth, God had to create the earth.  God also had to create

heaven as well.

God create a place for us to live in the flesh and then a place to live in the spirit.

Before we could be we needed a place to live in the flesh and in the spirit.

Knowing this we move to Psalms 102:25 (AMP) which says, “At the beginning You founded

the earth; The heavens are the work of Your hands.

This verse also talks about in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

Both heaven and earth were the works of God's hand.

We then look at the next verse this journey takes us on which is found in Nehemiah 9:6 Which

says, You alone are the Lord. You have made the heavens, The heaven of heavens with all

their lights, The earth and everything that is on it, The seas and everything that is in them. You

give life to all of them, And the heavenly lights bow down before You.

So, this verse also talks about the heavens and the earth being created by God.

But this verse goes further to talk about the lights that were created in heaven.

And then God created all things or as the verse everything.

It furthers this saying that God gave life to all of them.

The example the verse uses is the seas.

So, God created all things!!

Tomorrow we will continue this journey and see where it takes us!!!

Verse 22 Conclusion...

So, we will continue with verse 22 which says, It has happened to them according to the true

proverb, “A dog returns to its own vomit,” and, “A sow, after washing, returns to wallowing in

the mire.”

Our first stop or look was in Proverbs where the verse came from In Peter.

This then took us on a journey to Exodus to talk about the king of Egypt.

Which keeps us looking at Exodus.

19 But I know that the king of Egypt will not permit you to go, except under compulsion. 20 So

I will reach out with My hand and strike Egypt with all My miracles which I shall do in the midst

of it; and after that he will let you go. Exodus 3:19-20

But does this have to do with vomit returning to it as a dog?

Pharoah had the opportunity to change but went back to old habits.

Pharaoh was given 10 times to change but each time he went back to his old habits.

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 6:23

Pharoah was committing sin and, in the end, literally died for it.

The same could be said of Pharoah about walling in the mire.

He had 10 chances to be clean but chose to return to the mire and be in sin.

Take Pharoah and insert us as that person and answer these questions:

Are you like Pharoah in any way?

Do you go back to old habits?

Do you keep coming back to the same sin?

Think about these things and if so, make changes in your life today!!!!

Tomorrow we start a study that starts in Genesis 1:1 and we see where it goes from there.

Study of Peter 1 & 2: Chapter 3 Verses 14-18...

14 Therefore, beloved, since you look for these things, be diligent to be found spotless and

blameless by Him, at peace, 15 and regard the patience of our Lord as salvation; just as also

our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given him, wrote to you, 16 as also in all

his letters, speaking in them of these things, in which there are some things that are hard to

understand, which the untaught and unstable distort, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures,

to their own destruction. 17 You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, be on your guard

so that you are not carried away by the error of unscrupulous people and lose your own firm

commitment, 18 but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To

Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.

Verse 14

Things refers to Christ's judgment day.

Him is Jesus.

He wants us to be found blameless and spotless.

58 Therefore, my beloved brothers and sisters, be firm, immovable, always excelling in the

work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord. 1 Corinthians 15:58

Verse 15

regard patience of our lord as salvation just as Paul did.

Just as the wisdom that Paul shared with you when he wrote to you.

9 The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you,

not willing for any to perish, but for all to come to repentance.2 peter 3:9

Verse 16

Paul speaking of these things again refers to Christ's judgment day.

Some things will be hard to understand refers to some things will be difficult to

 comprehend/grasp.

With untaught ones refers to the people were not taught of Christ's judgment day.

There was also people who were unstable.

These people distort the Scriptures that lead to their destruction.

14 Therefore, beloved, since you look for these things, be diligent to be found spotless and

blameless by Him, at peace, 2 Peter 3:14

Verse 17

Knowing that people will distort the scripture the people he was writing to need to be on guard

that they may not be let or as the verse carried away in the wrong ways or errors of those

ways.

3 Beloved, this is now the second letter I am writing to you in which I am stirring up your sincere mind

by way of a reminder, 2 Peter 3:1

Verse 18

Grow in Knowledge of God and Jesus.

To Him be the glory now and the day of eternity.

Amen

2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, 2

Study of Peter 1 & 2: Chapter 3 Verses 10-13...

 A New Heaven and Earth

10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a

roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be

discovered.

11 Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of people ought you to be in

holy conduct and godliness, 12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God,

because of which the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with

intense heat!

Verse 10

Day of the lord refers to judgment day, that great day when Jesus comes back.

This day that is coming is like a thief because it will be sudden, and no one will expect it.

The CEV says The heavens will disappear with a loud noise.

ERV says The sky will disappear with a loud noise.

Heavens pass away refers to the new heaven that is talked about in Revelations 21:1 which

says, 21 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth

passed away, and there is no longer any sea.

Elements refers to natural elements like air water and earth.

The earth and works in it will be burned up.

8 who will also confirm you to the end, blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. 1

Corinthians 1:7

Verse 11

Since all these are destroyed refers to the verse before it about the earth and its works being

burned up.

Ought you refers to ought to be found.

ASV says, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy living and godliness,

11 Everything will be destroyed. So you should serve and honor God by the way you live. 2

Peter 3:11 CEV

Verse 12

The day of the lord is judgment day again repeated from the earlier verse (verse 10).

The old heaven will be burned or destroyed by fire and the elements will melt the fire/flames.

7 so that you are not lacking in any gift, as you eagerly await the revelation of our Lord Jesus

Christ, 1 Corinthians 1:7

Verse 13

But, according to his promise, we look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth

righteousness. 2 Peter 3:13 ASV

The promise is we will be in the new heavens and new earth.

17 “For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth;

And the former things will not be remembered or come to mind. Isaiah 65:17

Study of Peter 1 & 2 : Chapter 3 verses 6-9...

6 through which the world at that time was destroyed by being flooded with water. 7 But by His

word the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of

judgment and destruction of ungodly people.

8 But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a

thousand years, and a thousand years like one day. 9 The Lord is not slow about His promise,

as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not willing for any to perish, but for all to

come to repentance.

Verse 6

This comes right after verse 5 and continues from that verse which talks about what happened

in the book of Genesis.

The great flood is also recorded in Genesis which is what verse 6 talks about.

11 In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the

month, on that day all the fountains of the great deep burst open, and the floodgates of the sky

were opened. Genesis 7;11

Verse 7

The power of His word and God's commandments is what it refers to when it says His word.

It is the same His word as in verse 5.

Kept for the day refers to being protected and safe in treasury and not touched for a time, that

it will ultimately be destroyed.

The day of Judgement refers to the general judgment.

This was to happen by fire this time instead of water.

This kind of judgment was reserved for heaven.

This was to happen to the ungodly people, the ones who were wicked.

10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a

roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be

discovered. 2 Peter 3:10

Verse 8

The KJ21 says, But, beloved, be not ignorant.

This helps us to understand the word escape.

So we are not let this pass us by and we are to be aware of this.

This next part of the verse refers to the second coming of Jesus.

The last part of the verse talks about time and who are subject to it. But God is there is no

difference of time.

3 Beloved, this is now the second letter I am writing to you in which I am stirring up your

sincere mind by way of a reminder, 2 Peter 3:1

Verse 9

This verse refers to that God is not slow in His promises.

KJ21 says, The Lord is not slack concerning His promise.

AMP says, The Lord does not delay [as though He were unable to act] and is not slow about

His promise.

As some count slowness meaning scoffers.

But the patient talked about is for the believer, God's chosen.

The next part refers to the ordained life He has for us.

All God's people who come and repent so that as it refers to the day of judgment that they

would have salvation and it would save them.

3 For the vision is yet for the appointed time;

It hurries toward the goal and it will not fail.

Though it delays, wait for it;

For it will certainly come, it will not delay long. Habakkuk 2:3

Study of Peter 1 & 2: Chapter 3 Verse 5...

5 For when they maintain this, it escapes their notice that by the word of God the heavens existed long

ago and the earth was formed out of water and by water,

Verse 5

For this they wilfully forget, that there were heavens from of old, and an earth compacted out of water

and amidst water, by the word of God; 2 Peter 3:5 ASV

This version helps us understand what this first part of the verse is talking about which refers to what

they should know but did not know and if they had read the scriptures, they might know of God's

power.

By the word of God refers to knowing the commands of God and the power of His word.

The next part of the verse talks about the beginning of the earth.

The water refers to the Greek word συνεστῶσα sunestōsa meaning to stand with or together.

The writer of this letter, Peter, uses this illustration to reference Genesis 1 about the creation of the

earth.

1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 And the earth was a formless and desolate

emptiness, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the

surface of the waters. Genesis 1:1-2

The earth was barren, with no form of life; it was under a roaring ocean covered with darkness. But the

Spirit of God was moving over the water. Genesis 1:2 CEV

6 Then God said, “Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from

the waters.” Genesis 1:6

9 Then God said, “Let the waters below the heavens be gathered into one place, and let the dry land

appear”; and it was so. Genesis 1:9

Study of Peter 1 & 2: Chapter 3 Verses 3-4...

The Coming Day of the Lord

3 Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following

after their own lusts, 4 and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the

fathers fell asleep, all things continue just as they were from the beginning of creation.”

Verse 3

This is something to be remembered because it says know first of all.

So, they didn't just need to remember this back then, but we need to remember this today.

This is talking about the last days and that has yet to happen.

In the last days, people (scoffers) will not speak the truth is what this verse is talking about.

The lust they will follow after refers to their own pleasures, living in free indulgence.

20 But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture becomes a matter of someone’s own

 interpretation, 2 Peter 1:20

Verse 4

Where is the promise of His coming refers to what has come of the promise. where is to be

 accomplished here on this earth.

and say, “Didn't your Lord promise to come back? Yet the first leaders have already died, and

the world hasn't changed a bit.” 2 Peter 3:4 CEV

The fathers fell asleep refers to death or they had died.

The world will continue as it was.

and saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for, from the day that the fathers fell asleep,

all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. 2 Peter 3:4 ASV

and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things

continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.” 2 Peter 3:4 KJ21

19 Who say, “Let Him hurry, let Him do His work quickly, so that we may see it;

And let the plan of the Holy One of Israel approach

And come to pass, so that we may know it!” Isaiah 5:19

Study of Peter 1 & 2: Chapter 3 verse 1& 2...

Purpose of This Letter

3 Beloved, this is now the second letter I am writing to you in which I am stirring up your sincere mind by way of a reminder, 2 to remember the words spoken beforehand by the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior spoken by your apostles.

Verse 1

This letter is the second letter Peter wrote as stated in verse 3:1.

My dear friends, this is the second letter I have written to encourage you to do some honest thinking. I don't want you to forget 2 Peter 3 :1 CEV

This is now, beloved, the second epistle that I write unto you; and in both of them I stir up your sincere mind by putting you in remembrance; 2 Peter 3:1 AMP

This letter was to remind them of what was spoken to them by the apostles.

11 Beloved, I urge you as foreigners and strangers to abstain from fleshly lusts, which wage war against the soul. 1 Peter 2:11

Verse 2

Words that were spoken before to them by the way of the prophets, the commandments, the Lord and Savior were what Peter reminded them of by the way of the apostles.

what God's prophets said would happen. You must never forget what the holy prophets taught in the past. And you must remember what the apostles told you our Lord and Savior has commanded us to do. 2 Peter 3:2 CEV

that ye should remember the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and the commandment of the Lord and Saviour through your apostles: 2 Peter 2:3 ASV

Keep Yourselves in the Love of God

17 But you, beloved, ought to remember the words that were spoken beforehand by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ, Jude 1:17

Through Heaven's Eyes

Study of Peter 1 & 2: Chapter 2 Verse 22...

22 It has happened to them according to the true proverb, “A dog returns to its own vomit,” and, “A sow, after washing, returns to wallowing in the mire.”

Verse 22

CEV says, what happened to them is just like the true saying...

A dog returns to its own vomit refers to the pain that should change the habits that people have but that they would return to the old habits again.

Dog- sinful people

returns- what they did

Vomit- old habits

Then moves on to talk about sow meaning a pig can wash itself but it does not prevent it from rolling back in the mire.

Mire means mud.

Rolling in mire refers to sin.

All this leads to the filthy nature of sin.

But it has happened unto them according to the true proverb: “The dog turns to his own vomit again,” and, “the sow that was washed, to her wallowing in the mire.” 2 Peter 2:22 KJ21

It has happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog turning to his own vomit again, and the sow that had washed to wallowing in the mire. 2 Peter 2:22 ASV

The thing spoken of in the true proverb has happened to them, “The dog returns to his own vomit,” and, “A sow is washed only to wallow [again] in the mire.” 2 peter 2:22 AMP

A dog returns to his own vomit In the Old Testament/ in context:

10 Like an archer who wounds everyone,

So is one who hires a fool or hires those who pass by.

11 Like a dog that returns to its vomit,

So is a fool who repeats his foolishness.

12 Do you see a person wise in his own eyes?

There is more hope for a fool than for him. Proverbs 26:1-12

15 But when Pharaoh saw that there was relief, he hardened his heart and did not listen to them, just as the Lord had said. Exodus 8:15

4 When Pharaoh does not listen to you, I will lay My hand on Egypt and bring out My armies, My people the sons of Israel, from the land of Egypt by great judgments. Exodus 7:4

Find out the conclusion of this once the study of peter is over.

Study of Peter 1 & 2: Chapter 2 Verses 20-21...

20 For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world by the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and are overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first. 21 For it would be better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn away from the holy commandment handed on to them.

Verse 20

Defilement- other versions use pollution, the world's impurity, and the filthy things of this world

(Just to name a few).

So, we know by this verse that they have escaped the things of this world.

The they in this verse is talking about Christians in some way.

This happens as the verse says by the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Them refers to their old sins they committed.

Overcome refers to them continuing in that sin.

The last part of the verse talks about and means the end will be worse than the beginning.

Worse is the opposite of better, which is the words Peter remembers of Christ's word.

18 For, while speaking out arrogant words of no value they entice by fleshly desires, by indecent behavior, those who barely escape from the ones who live in error, 2 Peter 2:18

Verse 21

The CEV says better off and then goes on to say never known the about the right way.

Having obtained such knowledge is what the AMPC says.

Turned their backs, turn, turn back all leads to knowing the commandments and turning from following them.

These Commandments were the teachings taught to them as the elements of the Christian faith which all would have been taught before baptism.

They would have been better off if they had never known about the right way. Even after they knew what was right, they turned their backs on the holy commandments they were given. 2 Peter 2:21 CEV

For never to have obtained a [full, personal] knowledge of the way of righteousness would have been better for them than, having obtained [such knowledge], to turn back from the holy commandment which was [verbally] delivered to them. 2 Peter 2:21 AMPC

24 “But when a righteous person turns away from his righteousness, commits injustice and does according to all the abominations that the wicked person does, will he live? All his righteous deeds which he has done will not be remembered for his treachery which he has committed and his sin which he has committed; for them he will die. Ezekiel 18:24

Study of Peter 1 & 2: Chapter 2 Verses 18-19...

18 For, while speaking out arrogant words of no value they entice by fleshly desires, by indecent behavior, those who barely escape from the ones who live in error, 19 promising them freedom while they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by what anyone is overcome, by this he is enslaved.

Verse 18

The words they were speaking did not make sense.

CEV says stupid nonsense.

There was no value in what they were saying.

Fleshly desires refers that they were trying to lure men to come and follow them.

CEV says by being vulgar and crude.

So, we know that what they were doing was not good behavior.

The last part of the verse talks about barely escaping.

These people were barely escaping wrongdoers as the AMPC says.

CEV says the wrong kind of life.

Another version uses the words evil things and people.

They were doing evil things to entice people to come and follow them.

They brag out loud about their stupid nonsense. And by being vulgar and crude, they trap people who have barely escaped from living the wrong kind of life. 2 Peter 2:18-19 CEV

16 These are grumblers, finding fault, following after their own lusts; [a]they speak arrogantly, flattering people for the sake of gaining an advantage. Jude 1:16

Verse 19

They promised freedom to the people they were enticing.

But they themselves were slaves to corruption or as the AMPC says depravity and defilement.

CEV says filthy living.

They were not living right but in the flesh.

The last part of the verse talks about what overcomes you, you will be in bondage.

They were in bondage because these false teachers talked of freedom but were overcome by their lust and were slaves because of this.

They promise freedom to everyone. But they are merely slaves of filthy living, because people are slaves of whatever controls them. 2 Peter 2:19 CEV

34 Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin. John 8:34

Study of Peter 1 & 2: Chapter 2: verses 16-17...

16 but he received a rebuke for his own offense, for a mute donkey, speaking with a human voice, restrained the insanity of the prophet.

17 These are springs without water and mists driven by a storm, for whom the [a]black darkness has been reserved.

Verse 16

From what I read this verse is refers to Balaam which we talked about yesterday,

Rebuke refers to the angel that Peter is talking about but also to what the next part of the verse is saying a donkey.

The DRA Bible Says dumb beast.

So, this donkey was mute but spoke with a human voice.

Instead of insanity, other versions use madness, folly, foolishness, and irrationality.

Madness is what the ASV uses and that to me says it all that the prophets were doing things that were not right.

So the Doney restrained the madness they were doing.

16 but Balaam was stopped from his mad course when his donkey spoke to him with a human voice, scolding and rebuking him. 2 Peter 2:16 TLB

21 So Balaam arose in the morning, saddled his donkey, and went with the leaders of Moab. Numbers 22:21

Verse 17

Spring without water refers to comparing people who are seducers- false teachers.

Other versions use wells without water.

CEB uses false teachers are spiring without water.

Mist driven by storms refers to people who do not do good knowing the truth of God.

Clouds that are carried away is what some other versions say.

The TLB says promising much and delivering nothing.

Darkness- refers to hell as it set forth.

CEV says the darkest part of hell is waiting for them.

These men are as useless as dried-up springs of water, promising much and delivering nothing; they are as unstable as clouds driven by the storm winds. They are doomed to the eternal pits of darkness.  2 Peter 2:17 TLB

12 These are the ones who are hidden reefs in your love feasts when they feast with you without fear, like shepherds caring only for themselves; clouds without water, carried along by winds; autumn trees without fruit, doubly dead, uprooted; Jude 1:12

Study Of Peter 1 &2: Chapter 2 Verse 15...

15 abandoning the right way, they have gone astray, having followed the way of Balaam, the son of Beor, who loved the reward of unrighteousness;

Verse 15

The right way refers to the way of Jesus, faith, and holiness.

They have gone astray they have been led down a path of errors and doing wrong things.

Followed the ways of balaam refers to false doctrine and wicked lives.

balaam is not a faith or a religion,

balaam is an idea of gain or advancement of money when one has comprised His faith to do so.

balaam is linked to false teaching, teachers, and prophets.

To lead people to error means to lead people to sin.

Unrighteous acts that Balak rewarded Balaam for.

And they came to Balaam and said to him, “Thus says Balak the son of Zippor: ‘Let nothing hinder you from coming to me, for I will surely do you great honor, and whatever you say to me I will do. Come, curse this people for me.’” Numbers 22:16-17

In the American Standard Bible there are 66 results for Balaam.

Woe to them! For they have gone the way of Cain, and for pay they have given themselves up to the error of Balaam, and perished in the rebellion of Korah. Jude 1:11

But I have a few things against you, because you have some there who hold the teaching of Balaam, who kept teaching Balak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols and to commit sexual immorality. Revelations 2:14

There is even a spirit of balaam.

With that...

The point that this verse is saying is trying to make is that they were led astray by balaam.

This is a warning for us to not go down the same road.

My people, remember now What Balak king of Moab planned And what Balaam son of Beor answered him, And what happened from Shittim to Gilgal, So that you might know the righteous acts of the Lord.” Micah 6:5

Study of Peter 1& 2: Chapter 2 Verses 13-14...

13 suffering wrong as the wages of doing wrong. They count it a pleasure to revel in the daytime. They are stains and blemishes, reveling in their deceptions as they feast with you, 14 having eyes full of adultery that never cease from sin, enticing unstable souls, having hearts trained in greed, accursed children;

Verse 13

The KJ21 in the first part of the verse says and shall receive the reward of unrighteousness...

So, the first part of the verse talks about receiving the reward of unrighteousness. This has to refer to the sin they committed

Then it moves on in the verse talking about pleasure in revel refers as another version puts it means riot. This would be done during the daytime when they would riot.

The verse goes on to talk about that they would pollute themselves and defile others as well as the church.

They were deceiving the people.

While they were eating in food of charity.

and shall receive the reward of unrighteousness as those who count it pleasure to revel in the daytime. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceptions while they feast with you, 2 Peter 2:13 KJ21

suffering wrong [destined for punishment] as the wages of doing wrong. They count it a delight to revel in the daytime [living luxuriously]. They are stains and blemishes [on mankind], reveling in their deceptions even as they feast with you. 2 Peter 2:13

15 abandoning the right way, they have gone astray, having followed the way of Balaam, the son of Beor, who loved the reward of unrighteousness; 2 Peter 2:15

Verse 14

Adultery literally means adulteress.

People who cannot cease from sin.

They are leading people astray who were not fully grounded in God.

In goes on to talk about how they had several ways to seduce the people who would listen.

Curse children refers to the Greek children who were cursed.

having eyes full of adultery and who cannot cease from sin, beguiling unstable souls; their hearts they have exercised with covetous practices; accursed children! 2 peter 2:14 KJ21

They have eyes full of adultery, constantly looking for sin, enticing and luring away unstable souls. Having hearts trained in greed, [they are] children of a curse. 2 Peter 2:14 AMP

10 and said, “You who are full of all deceit and fraud, you son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, will you not stop making crooked the straight ways of the Lord? Acts 13:10

Study of Peter 1 & 2: Chapter 2 Verse 11-12...

11 whereas angels who are greater in might and power do not bring a demeaning judgment against them before the Lord. 12 But these, like unreasoning animals, born as creatures of instinct to be captured and killed, using abusive speech where they have no knowledge, will in the destruction of those creatures also be destroyed,

Verse 11

Angels who were good and greater than those false teachers.

their natural strength was greater.

The last part of the verse either refers to themselves or dignities.

CSB Says slanderous charge against them before the Lord.

KJ21 says accusation.

WYC says doom.

YLT says evil speaking Judgement.

So, this means they did not speak judgment against others or themselves.

whereas angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing accusation against them before the Lord. 2 Peter 2:11

whereas angels, though greater in might and power, bring not a railing judgment against them before the Lord. 2 Peter 2:11

whereas even angels who are superior in might and power do not bring a reviling (defaming) accusation against them before the Lord. 2 Peter 2:11 AMP

9 But Michael the archangel, when he disputed with the devil and argued about the body of Moses, did not dare pronounce against him an abusive judgment, but said, “The Lord rebuke you!” Jude 1:9

Verse 12

False teacher as described earlier is what, but these refer to.

Unreasoning animals refer to people who were void of reasoning and only followed their

sensual desires.

These unreasoning animals were made to be taken and destroyed.

Using abusive speech refers to speaking of evil things that they do not understand or could

comprehend as wisdom.

The last part of the verse talks about the utter destruction by their own corruption.

But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not, and shall utterly perish in their own corruption, 2 Peter 2:12 KJ21

But these, as creatures without reason, born mere animals to be taken and destroyed, railing in matters whereof they are ignorant, shall in their destroying surely be destroyed, 2 Peter 2:12 ASV

But these [false teachers], like unreasoning animals, [mere] creatures of instinct, born to be captured and destroyed, reviling things they do not understand, will also perish in their own corruption [in their destroying they will be destroyed], 2 Peter 2:12 AMP

10 But these people disparage all the things that they do not understand; and all the things that they know by instinct, like unreasoning animals, by these things they are destroyed. Jude 1:10

Study of Peter 1 & 2: Chapter 2 Verses 6-10...

6 and if He condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to destruction by reducing them to ashes, having made them an example of what is coming for the ungodly; 7 and if He rescued righteous Lot, who was oppressed by the perverted conduct of unscrupulous people 8 (for by what he saw and heard that righteous man, while living among them, felt his righteous soul tormented day after day by their lawless deeds), 9 then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from a trial, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment, 10 and especially those who indulge the flesh in its corrupt passion, and despise authority.

Reckless, self-centered, they speak abusively of angelic majesties without trembling,

Verse 6

This verse talks about an example of what will happen to the ungodly.

The example is Sodom and Gomorrah. Read Genesis 19.

24 Then the Lord rained brimstone and fire on Sodom and Gomorrah from the Lord out of heaven, Genesis 19:24

Verse 7

God rescued Lot from all the destruction that happened is what this verse is talking about.

CSB says depraved behavior.

ERV says the bad lives of those evil people.

16 But he hesitated. So the men grasped his hand and the hand of his wife and the ands of his two daughters, because the compassion of the Lord was upon him; and they brought him out and put him outside the city.

Verse 8

This verse refers to what Lot endured by living among these people.

Lawless deeds can refer to what verse 7 talks about.

4 By faith Abel offered to God a better sacrifice than Cain, through which he was attested to be righteous, God testifying about his gifts, and through faith, though he is dead, he still speaks. Hebrews 11:4

Verse 9

The Lord will rescue the Godly from trials.

Then it talks about the ungodly or as the verse says unrighteous will be kept under punishment for the day judgment.

13 No temptation has overtaken you except something common to mankind; and God is faithful, so He will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it. 1 Corinthians 10:13

Verse 10

ASV says walk after the flesh in the lust....

KJ21 says despise governances.

AMP says creatures despising the majesty of the Lord.

and especially those who indulge in the corrupt passions of the sin nature, and despise authority. Presumptuous and reckless, self-willed and arrogant [creatures, despising the majesty of the Lord], they do not tremble when they revile angelic majesties, 2 Peter 2:10 AMP

3 Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts, 2 Peter 3:3

Study of Peter 1 & 2: Chapter 2 Verses 1-5...

 The Appearance of False Prophets

2 But false prophets also appeared among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves. 2 Many will follow their indecent behavior, and because of them the way of the truth will be maligned; 3 and in their greed they will exploit you with false words; their judgment from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.

4 For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to pits of darkness, held for judgment; 5 and did not spare the ancient world, but protected Noah, a preacher of righteousness, with seven others, when He brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly;

Verse 1

The first part of the verse talks about false prophets among the people and there will also be false teachers.

Master refers to Lord.

They will deny God

Swift destruction refers to coming soon, it will happen suddenly and unexpectedly.

13 “If a prophet or a dreamer of dreams arises among you and gives you a sign or a wonder, Deuteronomy 13:1

Verse 2

depraved ways, evil ways, or immoral ways are what some of the other versions use instead of Indecent behavior.

Because as CEV puts evil ways then it goes on to say tell lies about the true way.

GNT says immoral ways and speak evil of the way of truth.

This all boils down that it was not good behavior.

5 and they called to Lot and said to him, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us that we may have relations with them.” Genesis 19:5

Verse 3

Greed refers to covetousness.

These people only view themselves and always seek to gain popularity and glory.

They will according to CEB take advantage of you with lies.

5 and constant friction between people of depraved mind and deprived of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain. 1 Timothy 6:5

Verse 4

This verse talks about how God spared angels and sent them to hell which is darkness and held for judgment.

Held for judgment refers to the last day, the time when they will have full torment.

6 And angels who did not keep their own domain but abandoned their proper dwelling place, these He has kept in eternal restraints under darkness for the judgment of the great day, Jude 6

Verse 5

God did spare the ancient world but protected Noah.

Proclaimer is what the DNLT version says.

This all boils down to that Noah was the person who brought righteousness and was righteousness.

God brought the flood because of the ungodliness of the earth.

20 then I will bring you down with those who go down to the pit, to the people of old, and I will make you remain in the lower parts of the earth, like the ancient ruins, with those who go down to the pit, so that you will not be inhabited; but I will put glory in the land of the living. Ezekiel 26:20

Praise Keep Breath Praise...

What is keeping you from Praise?

What is keeping you from shouting?

What is keeping you from Dancing?

What is keeping you from worship?

There was a picture that I saw if you don't feel like praying, force it. Because something is also forcing you not to pray.

Let's put the word praise instead of praying.

If you don't feel like praising. force it. Because something is also forcing you not to praise.

When you don't feel like praising or not worthy of doing it keep praise anyway.

In the song Praise by Elevation Worship, it says I'll praise when I feel it And I'll praise when I don't.

We are to praise no matter how we feel.

We are to praise 24/7.

No verse in the Bible says that praise is a feeling, but it is something we should do

to honor God.

It's not a feeling but a way of life.

My mouth is filled with your praise, and with your glory all the day. Psalm 71:8

This verse says all day.

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! Psalm 150:6

If we have Breath, we are to praise according to the verse above.

Whatever keeps us from praising you cut it out, lob it off right now God

Take it away and let it die on the floor so we can praise You 24/7

Protect our praise that we will continually praise you all the days of our lives

In Jesus Name

Amen

Study of 1 & 2 Peter: sin of omission Think About...

So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin. James 4:17

Did you pray that prayer yesterday?

Do you commit the sin of omission in your life?

If so, how can you change that?

If you need to go back and pray that prayer again!!!

Think about all these things today and make changes if needed, so you can stop this sin of omission.

Have a Day of repentance in this area, Amen!!!

Study 1 & 2 Peter: sin of Omission Prayer...

Dear God, I pray for the sin I committed by omission

God, I ask for forgiveness from You, and I forgive myself for this sin

Please help and protect me to recognize when I sin in this way

Give me guidance and wisdom to not sin in this way

May the devil, evil, and demons not be able to touch me in this area of sin or any area of sin

I praise You and thank You

In Jesus Name

Amen

17 So for one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, for him it is sin. James 4:17

16 “Brothers, the Scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit foretold by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who became a guide to those who arrested Jesus. Luke 12:47

41 Jesus said to them, “If you were blind, you would have no sin; but now that you maintain, ‘We see,’ your sin remains. John 9:41

21 For it would be better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn away from the holy commandment handed on to them. 2 Peter 2:21

Friday, May 3, 2024

Study of 1 & 2 Peter: Chapter 1 Verse 21...

21 For it would be better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn away from the holy commandment handed on to them.

Verse 21

It is better to not know the way of righteousness meaning not God's law.

Than know God's law and turn away meaning not adhere to it.

From the holy commandments is God's law.

Handed to given them here could be written to them or preached to them.

This verse can put another way to know to do right then not do right.

This is sin.

It's the sin of omission.

The main idea of this sin is the failure to act upon what you know to is right.

An example of this is when God tells you to help that person who is out in the cold, and you do not help knowing it is right that is sin.

See someone on the street bleeding out and you go about your day as if they were fine, but you know what was right to do and do not do that is sin.

It's not what we do that keeps us from getting into heaven but what we do not do according to Ed Cole.

So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin. James 4:17

Tomorrow we will pray for this!!!!

Study of 1 & 2 Peter: Chapter 1 Verses 16-20...

 Eyewitnesses

16 For we did not follow cleverly devised tales when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of His majesty. 17 For when He received honor and glory from God the Father, such a declaration as this was made to Him by the Majestic Glory: “This is My beloved Son with whom I am well pleased”— 18 and we ourselves heard this declaration made from heaven when we were with Him on the holy mountain.

19 And so we have the prophetic word made more sure, to which you do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts. 20 But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture becomes a matter of someone’s own interpretation,

Verse 16

We did have/ tell you tall tales, fables, and myths when made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Then it moves on in the verse to tell why this was not so, it was the fact that they were eyewitnesses to what had happened, and His majesty or as other version put it His greatness.

4 nor to pay attention to myths and endless genealogies, which give rise to useless speculation rather than advance the plan of God, which is by faith, so I urge you now. 1 Timothy 1:4

Verse 17

Glory and Honor.

From the excellent Glory refers to heaven or God.

My beloved Son Is Jesus the Messiah.

God was well please With His son Jesus.

5 While he was still speaking, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and behold, a voice from the cloud said, “This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to Him!” Matthew 17:5

Verse 18

We meaning Peter, John, and James.

Hearing this voice from Heaven is what it means when the word declaration is used here.

Not really a Holy mountain but holy because of God's presence.

5 Then He said, “Do not come near here; remove your sandals from your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground.” Exodus 3:5

Verse 19

Prophetic word refers to either from heaven or from the testimony of Peter and the other two apostles.

Then it moves on to talk need to heed to this kind of teaching and testimony.

We need to search and study these teaching/testimonies.

A light refer to the word Of God.

A dark place refers to a dirty place or filthy place, places that have no light are dirty.

Until the day dawns and the morning rises in your hearts refers to knowing the knowledge of Christ.

10 As to this salvation, the prophets who prophesied of the grace that would come to you made careful searches and inquiries, 1 Peter 1:10

Verse 20

No scripture is a matter of someone's interpretation.

This is First.

3 Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts, 2 Peter 3:3
