Trust, Resist, Do Good: Verse 3 Surrounding...

Psalm 37 is written by David and is a psalm that is poetic in nature. It was in Hebrew originally and the Psalm is written to tell the problems that David was having.

Psalm 37 opens with:

1 Don’t Fret because of evildoers, Be not envious towards wrongdoers. Psalm 37:1 NLT

Fret means to be worried or anxious constantly.

Evildoers are the ungodly or people who do not know God or have intent even if they know God.

17 Don’t envy sinners, but always continue to fear the Lord. Proverbs 23:17 NLT

31 Don’t envy violent people or copy their ways. Proverbs 3:31 NLT

The main theme in this verse is (Do not) envy.

Verse 2:

2 For like grass, they soon fade away. Like spring flowers, they soon wither. Psalm 37:2 NLT

This shows that the envious will be short-lived. It is a picture that the envious will be cut down like grass when it is mowed.

The flowers are the same way they will be short-lived and will dry up or shriveled. when something withers away it is mostly likely to die.

Verse 3: Trust in the Lord and do good. Then you will live safely in the land and prosper. Psalm 3 NLT

Verse 4:

4 Take delight in the Lordand he will give you your heart’s desires. Psalm 37:4 NLT

Delight means to have great pleasure, or pleased greatly.

God will give those in Him what is their hearts. He knows our desires and will fulfill them.

26 “Then you will take delight in the Almighty and look up to God. Job 22:26 NLT

19 When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer. Psalm 94:19 NLT

14 Then the Lord will be your delight. I will give you great honor and satisfy you with the inheritance I promised to your ancestor Jacob. I, the Lord, have spoken!” Isaiah 58:14 NLT

Verse 5:

Commit everything you do to the LordTrust him, and he will help you. Psalm 37:5 NLT

commit means to bind or pledge to something.

We need to give all that we have to the Lord.

God will help those who trust in Him in everything.

22 Give your burdens to the Lordand he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall. Psalm 55:22 NLT

3 Commit your actions to the Lordand your plans will succeed. Proverbs 16:3 NLT

Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. 1 Peter 5:7 NLT

Psalm 62

A CALM RESOLVE TO WAIT FOR THE SALVATION OF GOD

To the Chief Musician. To Jeduthun. A Psalm of David

62 Truly my soul silently waits for God;

From Him comes my salvation.

He only is my rock and my salvation;

He is my defense;

I shall not be greatly moved.

How long will you attack a man?

You shall be slain, all of you,

Like a leaning wall and a tottering fence.

They only consult to cast him down from his high position;

They delight in lies;

They bless with their mouth,

But they curse inwardly. Selah

My soul, wait silently for God alone,

For my expectation is from Him.

He only is my rock and my salvation;

He is my defense;

I shall not be moved.

In God is my salvation and my glory;

The rock of my strength,

And my refuge, is in God.

Trust in Him at all times, you people;

Pour out your heart before Him;

God is a refuge for us. Selah

Surely men of low degree are a vapor,

Men of high degree are a lie;

If they are weighed on the scales,

They are altogether lighter than vapor.

10

Do not trust in oppression,

Nor vainly hope in robbery;

If riches increase,

Do not set your heart on them.

11

God has spoken once,

Twice I have heard this:

That power belongs to God.

12

Also to You, O Lord, belongs mercy;

For You render to each one according to his work. Psalm 62 NKJV

Trust, Resist, Do Good...

3 Trust in Adonai and do good. Dwell in the land, feed on faithfulness. Psalm 37:3 TLV. In the Bible that I read from it says, feed on His righteousness.

8 On God, my salvation and my glory is the rock of my strength. My refuge is in God Psalm 62:8 TLV

20 by loving Adonai your God, listening to His voice, and clinging to Him. For He is your life and the length of your days, that you may dwell on the land that Adonai swore to your fathers—to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob—to give them. Deuteronomy 30:20 TLV

11 Like a shepherd, He tends His flock. He gathers the lambs in His arms carries them in his bosom, and gently guides nursing ewes. Isaiah 40:11 TLV

13 I will bring them out from the peoples. I will gather them from the countries. I will bring them back to their own land. I will shepherd them upon the mountains of Israel, by the streams and in all the habitable places of the land. Ezekiel 34:13

 14 I will shepherd them in a good pasture—their grazing place will be on the high mountains of Israel. There they will lie down on good grazing ground. They will feed in a rich pasture on the mountains of Israel. Ezekiel 34:14 TLV

27 Depart from evil, and do good, So you will abide forever.  Psalm 37:27 NASB. In my bible the comments say, dwell instead of abide.

14 Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking treachery. Psalm 34:14 TLV

18 Adonai knows the days of the blameless— their inheritance endures forever. Psalm 37:18 TLV

28 The children of Your servants will continue, And their descendants will be established before You.” Psalm 102:28 NKJV

In this next series, we will be talking about trusting in God departing from evil, and doing good.

Tomorrow we will look at the verses that surround Psalm 37:3 and Psalm 37:27.

Romans 8:18-30

 Future Glory

18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. 19 For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God. 20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope 21 that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. 22 For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now. 23 And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. 24 For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? 25 But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.

26 Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. 27 And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. 28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. 29 For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. 30 And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified. Romans 8:18-30 ESV

Wrap Up Listen and Hear...

 So, to wrap up what we have been discussing, the devil tries to use movies, TV, and music to bring us further away from God.

10 The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows].  John 10:10

The devil wants nothing more for us not to have joy and not to be with God. The devil likes it when we have the things that God does not like.

21 For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, 22 coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness. Mark 7:21-22 ESV

29 They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 31 foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless.  Romans 1:29-31 ESV

The devil loves these things and God opposes these things. Don't let what the devil uses like music, movies, and TV lead you to these things and away from God. Gird yourself to what is right and what is true.

1 Therefore, if you have been raised with Christ, keep seeking the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.  Colossians 3:1 NASB

3 I will not set before my eyes anything that is worthless. I hate the work of those who fall away; it shall not cling to me. Psalm 101:3 ESV

Renew your mind and put on the new self.

 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:2

Be mindful of what you watch and hear. let God take control of that today!!!

Let God have our TV, our Music, our Movies!!!!

I pray over what I have written today

I speak Jesus over it

I pray people's lives our changed because of it

I declare freedom form the unholy music, movies and TV today

In the Mighty Name of Jesus

IN Jesus Name

1 Chronicles 16:8-36

David's Song of Thanks

Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name;

    make known his deeds among the peoples!

Sing to him, sing praises to him;

    tell of all his wondrous works!

10

Glory in his holy name;

    let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice!

11

Seek the Lord and his strength;

    seek his presence continually!

12

Remember the wondrous works that he has done,

    his miracles and the judgments he uttered,

13

O offspring of Israel his servant,

    children of Jacob, his chosen ones!

14

He is the Lord our God;

    his judgments are in all the earth.

15

Remember his covenant forever,

    the word that he commanded, for a thousand generations,

16

the covenant that he made with Abraham,

    his sworn promise to Isaac,

17

which he confirmed to Jacob as a statute,

    to Israel as an everlasting covenant,

18

saying, “To you I will give the land of Canaan,

    as your portion for an inheritance.”

19

When you were few in number,

    of little account, and sojourners in it,

20

wandering from nation to nation,

    from one kingdom to another people,

21

he allowed no one to oppress them;

    he rebuked kings on their account,

22

saying, “Touch not my anointed ones,

    do my prophets no harm!”

23

Sing to the Lord, all the earth!

    Tell of his salvation from day to day.

24

Declare his glory among the nations,

    his marvelous works among all the peoples!

25

For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised,

    and he is to be feared above all gods.

26

For all the gods of the peoples are worthless idols,

    but the Lord made the heavens.

27

Splendor and majesty are before him;

    strength and joy are in his place.

28

Ascribe to the Lord, O families of the peoples,

    ascribe to the Lord glory and strength!

29

Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;

    bring an offering and come before him!

Worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness;

30

    tremble before him, all the earth;

    yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved.

31

Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice,

    and let them say among the nations, “The Lord reigns!”

32

Let the sea roar, and all that fills it;

    let the field exult, and everything in it!

33

Then shall the trees of the forest sing for joy

    before the Lord, for he comes to judge the earth.

34

Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;

    for his steadfast love endures forever!

35 Say also:

“Save us, O God of our salvation,

    and gather and deliver us from among the nations,

that we may give thanks to your holy name

    and glory in your praise.

36

Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel,

    from everlasting to everlasting!”

Then all the people said, “Amen!” and praised the Lord. 1 Chronicles 16:8-36 ESV
