Ephesians 6:10-20

 The Whole Armor of God

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. 14 Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. 16 In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; 17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, 18 praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, 19 and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak. Victory!!!

I love music and I get certain tingling feelings when I worship or listen to certain songs (some non-Christian). This morning I got another tingling sensation but it wasn't from God or because I wasn't worshipping or anything, but I was thinking about what yesterday, and the devil wasn't happy with me. I shook it off again. But I am here to tell you that the devil doesn't like when we talk about things like that. But I am here to tell you God wins and that the power the devil has cannot defeat the power God has. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Corinthians 15:57 ESV. 

I think Watchman Nee put it best and he says, “Remember: you are not fighting for victory, but from victory, for Jesus Christ has already defeated Satan!” “Never fight a battle that God has already won for you.” the Quote goes on but I will leave it there. Jesus had already won the victory over satan. I am going to repeat that again, Jesus has already won the victory over satan. And if you go further Jesus has had victory over every demon, evil spirit, and negativity and we are not to live as if we are battling those things. 

God is victorious over everything!!!!!

Dear God, I praise you for the victory that we already have

I thank you for the battle you battled for us and won

I pray that we live in victory 

I say to the devil hands off we already won the victory over you

by the power of Jesus Christ

You hate all who do injustice.

You destroy those who speak lies;

The Lord loathes the person of bloodshed and deceit.

7 

But as for me, by Your abundant graciousness I will enter Your house,

At Your holy temple I will bow in reverence for You.

Lord, lead me in Your righteousness because of my enemies;

Make Your way straight before me.

For there is nothing trustworthy in their mouth;

Their inward part is destruction itself.

Their throat is an open grave;

They flatter with their tongue.

Make them pay, God;

Have them fall by their own schemes!

Scatter them in the multitude of their wrongdoings,

For they are rebellious against You.

evil Wants Common to Uncommon God...

The devil wants us to have a common life. he wants us to strive for meteorite and not have our best life. This is pleasing to the devil when we are not the uncommon life God has for us.

Right now in the name of Jesus, I expel all thoughts of that 

I expel every thought that says we are not to have uncommon life in Jesus

I commend that every bit of evil, every devil, every bad spirit to leave and leave us alone

I pray James 4:7 (NASB) over all who read this which says, Submit therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

I pray Jesus over our lives and proclaim and declare that we live the uncommon life we were meant to live in Jesus

I pray that no hell or anything can keep us from our uncommon life in Jesus

In the mighty Name of Jesus

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came so that they would have life, and have it abundantly. John 10:10. This is what the devil wants to do to you, he wants to steal, kill and destroy your uncommon life in Jesus. The devil delights in that when you are in misery and not in the uncommon life you were destined for in Jesus. Shake off those thoughts about the devil and his bad spirits right now, Jesus came as the verse end to say that He came so we may have life abundant, a life that is uncommon. 

I had a feeling as writing that the devil did not like what I was writing I was tingling all over but I shook it off and keep writing. I say to the devil I stick it today that I am a child of God and am destined to have an uncommon life. I also say to you devil to all who read this the same that they will be protected by the power of Jesus and they are children of God and are destined to greatness in the uncommon life of Jesus.

Shake off the devil and have the life you were meant to have in Jesus, an uncommon life today!!!!

Jeremiah 29

 

Message to the Exiles

29 Now these are the words of the letter which Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem to the rest of the elders of the exile, the priests, the prophets, and all the people whom Nebuchadnezzar had taken into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon. 2 (This was after King Jeconiah and the queen mother, the high officials, the leaders of Judah and Jerusalem, the craftsmen, and the metalworkers had departed from Jerusalem.) 3 The letter was sent by the hand of Elasah the son of Shaphan and Gemariah the son of Hilkiah, whom Zedekiah king of Judah sent to Babylon to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, saying, 4 “This is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel, says to all the exiles whom I have sent into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon: 5 ‘Build houses and live in them; and plant gardens and eat their produce. 6 Take wives and father sons and daughters, and take wives for your sons and give your daughters to husbands, so that they may give birth to sons and daughters; and grow in numbers there and do not decrease. 7 Seek the prosperity of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord in its behalf; for [n its prosperity will be your [e]prosperity.’ 8 For this is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel says: ‘Do not let your prophets who are in your midst or your diviners deceive you, and do not listen to their interpretations of your dreams which you dream. 9 For they prophesy falsely to you in My name; I have not sent them,’ declares the Lord.

10 “For this is what the Lord says: ‘When seventy years have been completed for Babylon, I will visit you and fulfill My good word to you, to bring you back to this place. 11 For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans for prosperity and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13 And you will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. 14 I will let Myself be found by you,’ declares the Lord, ‘and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and all the places where I have driven you,’ declares the Lord, ‘and I will bring you back to the place from where I sent you into exile.’

15 “Because you have said, ‘The Lord has raised up prophets for us in Babylon’— 16 for this is what the Lord says concerning the king who sits on the throne of David, and concerning all the people who live in this city, your brothers who did not go with you into exile— 17 this is what the Lord of armies says: ‘Behold, I am sending upon them the sword, famine, and plague; and I will make them like rotten figs that cannot be eaten due to rottenness. 18 I will pursue them with the sword, with famine, and with plague; and I will make them an object of terror to all the kingdoms of the earth, to be a curse and an object of horror and [h]hissing, and a disgrace among all the nations where I have driven them, 19 because they have not listened to My words,’ declares the Lord, ‘which I sent to them again and again by My servants the prophets; but you did not listen,’ declares the Lord. 20 ‘You, therefore, hear the word of the Lord, all you exiles, whom I have sent away from Jerusalem to Babylon.

21 ‘This is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel says concerning Ahab the son of Kolaiah and concerning Zedekiah the son of Maaseiah, who are prophesying to you falsely in My name: “Behold, I am going to hand them over to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and he will kill them before your eyes. 22 Because of them a curse will be used by all the exiles from Judah who are in Babylon, saying, ‘May the Lord make you like Zedekiah and Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire,’ 23 because they acted foolishly in Israel, and committed adultery with their neighbors’ wives, and falsely spoke words in My name which I did not command them. I am He who knows, and a witness,” declares the Lord.’”

24 Now you shall speak to Shemaiah the Nehelamite, saying, 25 “This is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel says: ‘Because you have sent letters in your own name to all the people who are in Jerusalem, and to the priest Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, and to all the priests, saying, 26 “The Lord has made you priest instead of Jehoiada the priest, to be the [k]overseer of the house of the Lord for every insane person who prophesies, to put him in the stocks and in the iron collar. 27 So now, why have you not rebuked Jeremiah of Anathoth who prophesies to you, 28 seeing that he has sent word to us in Babylon, saying, ‘The exile will be long; build houses and live in them, and plant gardens and eat their produce’?”’”

29 Now Zephaniah the priest read this letter to Jeremiah the prophet. 30 Then the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying, 31 “Send word to all the exiles, saying, ‘This is what the Lord says concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite: “Because Shemaiah has prophesied to you, although I did not send him, and he has made you trust in a lie,” 32 therefore this is what the Lord says: “Behold, I am going to punish Shemaiah the Nehelamite and his [o]descendants; he will not have anyone living among this people, and he will not see the good that I am going to do for My people,” declares the Lord, “because he has spoken falsely against the Lord.”’” Jeremiah 29 NASB

Uncommon books to Uncommon Life...

Yesterday we ended our series on uncommon books and as I prepared to move to the next series which I mapped out and prayed about I wrote down and said what about uncommon books to an uncommon life. We are not meant to have a common life; we are meant to have an uncommon life. This is because we are God's people, and we are sold out for Him. God has great things in store for the people who choose to follow and be on fire for Him. Do you think Daniel would have survived all that he did if his life was to be common, I think not? Or David with Goliath, would he have been victorious if his life was just common, I think not?

Let's look at the Bible to why this is so:

Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. Genesis 1:26 -27 ESV. This tells us that God created man and woman in His own image.  And to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness. Ephesians 4:24 ESV. We were created to have the likeness of God and with that comes greatness that can only come from an uncommon life.

Think about if we were to have a common life would God have created us in His own image as stated in the Bible. No, we are meant for more, we are meant to have an uncommon life and have a life of heaven and blessing.

I leave today with one final verse to an uncommon life.

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11. God has plans for us and if it were to be common he would not tak the time for these plans to come to life and want good things for our life. A common life leads to evil and the devil to take over.

Hosea 1

 Hosea’s Wife and Children

1 The word of the Lord which came to Hosea the son of Beeri, during the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, and during the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel.

2 When the Lord first spoke through Hosea, the Lord said to Hosea, “Go, take for yourself a wife inclined to infidelity, and children of infidelity; for the land commits flagrant infidelity, abandoning the Lord.” 3 So he went and took Gomer the daughter of Diblaim, and she conceived and bore him a son. 4 And the Lord said to him, “Name him Jezreel; for in just a little while I will punish the house of Jehu for the bloodshed of Jezreel, and I will put an end to the kingdom of the house of Israel. 5 On that day I will break the bow of Israel in the Valley of Jezreel.”

6 Then she conceived again and gave birth to a daughter. And he Lord said to him, “Name her Lo-ruhamah, for I will no longer take pity on the house of Israel, that I would ever forgive them. 7 But I will take pity on the house of Judah and save them by the Lord their God, and will not save them by bow, sword, battle, horses, or horsemen.”

8 When she had weaned Lo-ruhamah, she conceived and gave birth to a son. 9 And the Lord said, “Name him Lo-ammi, because you are not My people, and I am not your God.”

  10 Yet the number of the sons of Israel
Will be like the sand of the sea,
Which cannot be measured or counted;
And in the place
Where it is said to them,
“You are not My people,”
It will be said to them,
“You are the sons of the living God.”
  11 And the sons of Judah and the sons of Israel will be gathered together,
And they will appoint for themselves one leader,
And they will go up from the land,
For the day of Jezreel will be great. Hosea 1 NASB

Uncommon book end of...

Today we end the series of uncommon books of the Bible. We looked at the uncommon book of Joel to Ezra to the last one which was Philemon. This series has opened my eyes to reading and using books I would not normally use. I have learned so much about the uncommon books of the Bible. There may be more books or ones you can think of but with all that, we will move on. I have prayed about this and feel that God has led me to close this series and move on.

My hope for you is that you got a better understanding of some of the uncommon books of the Bible and will start to use them. 

Dear God I pray for the entire Bible and that we would use it as a whole book

God, I pray the books that are uncommon in the Bible to become common practice to read and use

I declare protection around the reading using of your word in the Bible

I proclaim and declare that the devil would not be able to hinder us from such things as reading the Bible as a whole

Uncommon Book: Philemon!

 Philemon is the uncommon book we will be looking at today. The book of Philemon is small consisting of only one chapter but even the small books of the Bible we can glean something from. The book Philemon is a book written by Paul to Philemon while in Prison and from what I read they call this a prison epistle because it was written while in prison. 

At the beginning of the book, Paul greets Philemon a brother and worker in the work of the Lord.  1 Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus, and Timothy our brother, To Philemon our beloved brother and fellow worker, 2 and to Apphia our sister, and to Archippus our fellow soldier, and to the church in your house: 3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Philemon 1:1-2 NASB.

The rest of the book and the main theme of this book is a letter to Philemon to plead for his servant Onesimus. His servant had run away and Paul was asking that he seek forgiveness. His servant was not a long-time believer of Jesus but a new convert.

Philemon’s Love and Faith

4 I thank my God always, making mention of you in my prayers, 5 because I hear of your love and of the faith which you have toward the Lord Jesus and toward all the saints; 6 and I pray that the fellowship of your faith may become effective through the knowledge of every good thing which is in you for the sake of Christ. 7 For I have had great joy and comfort in your love, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed through you, brother.

8 Therefore, though I have enough confidence in Christ to order you to do what is proper, 9 yet for love’s sake I rather appeal to you—since I am such a person as Paul, [i]an old man, and now also a prisoner of Christ Jesus—

Plea for Onesimus, a Free Man

10 I appeal to you for my son Onesimus, whom I fathered in my imprisonment, 11 who previously was useless to you, but now is useful both to you and to me. 12 I have sent him back to you in person, that is, sending my very heart, 13 whom I wanted to keep with me, so that in your behalf he might be at my service in my imprisonment for the gospel; 14 but I did not want to do anything without your consent, so that your goodness would not be, in effect, by compulsion, but of your own free will. 15 For perhaps it was for this reason that he was separated from you for a while, that you would have him back forever, 16 no longer as a slave, but more than a slave, a beloved brother, especially to me, but how much more to you, both in the flesh and in the Lord.

17 If then you regard me as a partner, accept him as you would me. 18 But if he has wronged you in any way or owes you anything, charge that to my account; 19 I, Paul, have written this with my own hand, I will repay it (not to mention to you that you owe to me even your own self as well). 20 Yes, brother, let me benefit from you in the Lord; refresh my heart in Christ.

21 Having confidence in your obedience, I write to you, since I know that you will do even more than what I say.

22 At the same time also prepare me a guest room, for I hope that through your prayers I will be given to you.

23 Epaphras, my fellow prisoner in Christ Jesus, greets you, 24 as do Mark, Aristarchus, Demas, and Luke my fellow workers 

25 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Philemon 1: 2-25 NASB

Titus 1

 Salutation

1 Paul, a bond-servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, for the faith of those chosen of God and the knowledge of the truth which is according to godliness, 2 in the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised long ages ago, 3 but at the proper time revealed His word in the proclamation with which I was entrusted according to the commandment of God our Savior;

4 To Titus, my true son in a common faith: Grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Savior.

Qualifications of Elders

5 For this reason I left you in Crete, that you would set in order what remains and appoint elders in every city as I directed you, 6 namely, if any man is beyond reproach, the husband of one wife, having children who believe, not accused of indecent behavior or rebellion. 7 For the overseer must be beyond reproach as God’s steward, not self-willed, not quick-tempered, not overindulging in wine, not a bully, not greedy for money, 8 but hospitable, loving what is good, self-controlled, righteous, holy, disciplined, 9 holding firmly the faithful word which is in accordance with the teaching, so that he will be able both to exhort in sound doctrine and to refute those who contradict it.

10 For there are many rebellious people, empty talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision, 11 who must be silenced because they are upsetting whole families, teaching things they should not teach for the sake of dishonest gain. 12 One of them, a prophet of their own, said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.” 13 This testimony is true. For this reason reprimand them severely so that they may be sound in the faith, 14 not paying attention to Jewish myths and commandments of men who turn away from the truth. 15 To the pure, all things are pure; but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their mind and their conscience are defiled. 16 They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny Him, being detestable and disobedient and worthless for any good deed. Titus 1 NASB

Uncommon book: Titus!

Titus is the uncommon book we will be looking at today. There are three chapters in the book of Titus. The letter to Titus was written by Paul an apostle so, from what I researched Titus was written by Paul.  This letter was to a Church leader In Greece in Crete to guide him in the leadership of the church in that place. 5 For this reason I left you in Crete, that you would set in order what remains and appoints elders in every city as I directed you. Titus 1:5 NASB. 

This letter was to a pastor of the day. If you remember your Bible Christianity, was a young religion. Christianity didn't start until Jesus came to earth and then rose to heaven. so this pastor was young maybe not in age I do not know but in being a pastor of this Christianity. I have already started talking about the main theme, which is a pastoral epistle. As we already look at Paul writing to remind Titus of the charge, He sent him for the duty he was to carry out.

Paul also sends in the letter a warning to Titus and that is found in Titus 1:12 (NASB) and it says, 12 One of them, a prophet of their own, said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.” This letter was to encourage Titus but to also instruct and help in ministry and be on guard with the warning He gave. This is the second theme of this book.

The Final theme of this book is that Paul wants to meet with Titus in Nicopolis. That is pretty straightforward. 12 When I send Artemas or Tychicus to you, make every effort to come to me at Nicopolis, for I have decided to spend the winter there. Titus 3:12 NASB.

This book can be used today and is just as relevant today as it was back then. So, take time and read this wonderful, uncommon book today!!!

Jude 1

 The Warnings of History to the Ungodly

1 Jude, a bond-servant of Jesus Christ and brother of James,

To those who are the called, beloved in God the Father, and kept for Jesus Christ: 2 May mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you.

3 Beloved, while I was making every effort to write you about our common salvation, I felt the necessity to write to you appealing that you contend earnestly for the faith that was once for all time handed down to the saints. 4 For certain people have crept in unnoticed, those who were long beforehand marked out for this condemnation, ungodly persons who turn the grace of our God into indecent behavior and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

5 Now I want to remind you, though you know everything once and for all, that the Lord, after saving a people out of the land of Egypt, subsequently destroyed those who did not believe. 6 And angels who did not keep their own domain but abandoned their proper dwelling place, these He has kept in eternal restraints under darkness for the judgment of the great day, 7 just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities around them, since they in the same way as these angels indulged in sexual perversion and went after strange flesh, are exhibited as an example in undergoing the punishment of eternal fire.

8 Yet in the same way these people also, dreaming, defile the flesh, reject authority, and speak abusively of angelic majesties. 9 But Michael the archangel, when he disputed with the devil and argued about the body of Moses, did not dare pronounce against him an abusive judgment, but said, “The Lord rebuke you!” 10 But these people disparage all the things that they do not understand; and all the things that they know by instinct, like unreasoning animals, by these things they are destroyed. 11 Woe to them! For they have gone the way of Cain, and for pay they have given themselves up to the error of Balaam, and perished in the rebellion of Korah. 12 These are the ones who are hidden reefs in your love feasts when they feast with you without fear, like shepherds caring only for themselves; clouds without water, carried along by winds; autumn trees without fruit, doubly dead, uprooted; 13 wild waves of the sea, churning up their own shameful deeds like dirty foam; wandering stars, for whom the gloom of darkness has been reserved forever.

14 It was also about these people that Enoch, in the seventh generation from Adam, prophesied, saying, “Behold, the Lord has come with many thousands of His holy ones, 15 to execute judgment upon all, and to convict all the ungodly of all their ungodly deeds which they have done in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.” 16 These are grumblers, finding fault, following after their own lusts; they speak arrogantly, flattering people for the sake of gaining an advantage.

Keep Yourselves in the Love of God

17 But you, beloved, ought to remember the words that were spoken beforehand by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ, 18 that they were saying to you, “In the last time there will be mockers, following after their own ungodly lusts.” 19 These are the ones who cause divisions, worldly-minded, devoid of the Spirit. 20 But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in the love of God, looking forward to the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life. 22 And have mercy on some, who are doubting; 23 save others, snatching them out of the fire; and on some have mercy with fear, hating even the garment polluted by the flesh.

24 Now to Him who is able to protect you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His glory, blameless with great joy, 25 to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority before all time and now and forever. Amen. Jude 1 NASB
